im just gonna answer all 50 things and then anyone who wants to comment on my responses can lol

1. so many honestly. im hyperfixated on rain world rn though so probably al the scavengers, slugcats, and iterators xD

2. lighters are so satisfying to use, and don’t create a bunch of waste. plus matches always make me a bit scared that they’ll break or burn me and they just seem so inconsistent. but when you get a match to light, it’s a whole different magical experience. i feel like some post-apocalyptic bunker-dweller lighting my oil lantern to go scavenge through some abandoned train tunnels for supplies. very fun

3. as long as it isn’t too cold, stormy, or there’s wildfire smoke outside, then yeah. some bugs do manage to get in though :/

4. some sort of undefined ghostly entity or energy force that manifests itself into multiple different beings, explaining why encounters with cryptids are always so inconsistent and all over the place

Drawing out some concept designs.

The top blue one is a small doodle I did to understand how scavengers would look in my Au. They can be a variety of different colors, the shapes of their horns, and their overall body structure, even in game. So I definitely want to use that to my advantage when making different designs.

I haven't covered it yet, but there is a social hierarchy that is similarly based on the concepts that the ancients had. Such as groups collecting and being labeled under a certain “house’s” like the “house of braids” we learn about in game. And those houses forming over time based on the religious ideals and opinions.

In bigger cities, technology is much more advanced. (not nearly to the level of the ancients) But I imagine uncovering the scraps and what was left of their civilization, they were able to advance quicker than if they had to figure it all out for themselves. And that also helps me explain how iterators exist in my Au. They're just not made in the massive scale of mega superstructures anymore. I'll post something about iterators soon, I love drawing them. And I'll try to work on a general timeline post so it's easier to understand. Since right now I'm just trying to decode all the ideas in my head.

A small comic with a slugcat and a lantern mouse. Oc’s that I will work on more. The poor glowy beans have been chomped on throughout their entire existence, so a lot of them are a little nervous, especially around predators. There are so many concepts I want to make posts on. Like how the creature's behavior or inherent fears (such as a lantern mouse’s prey anxiety) affects how they interact with others and their culture.

I've had this Au concept in my head for at least a year, and it's been a major comfort for me. But it's very interesting and challenging trying to start building lore, stories, and characters from a specific point. And trying to put my scatterbrained thoughts into words and sharing them. Things might change, and my posts are most definitely not going to be focused and a bit messy, but I think posting even sketches and rough drafts helps, and I can be happy with that. I love the idea of slowly being able to work on it over time. And develop some fun dynamics and cool world-building. Hopefully, this tumbler thing turns into something I can scroll through and see my progress over the years.

just some scribbles. the first one some concept stuff of my rain world ocs!! the iterator is distant glint of lantern light (or glint for short), the scrapper, and her little pup, the hideaway! (i may or may not change that.) this is subject to change, but essentially the story for them goes like, hideaway accidentally gets kidnapped by glint, and scrapper goes into his superstructure to try to find her. glint just kinda goes "oh kitty cat :D" completely oblivious to hideaway's existence and plays around with scrapper. hideaway is scrapper's last kid out of like a litter of, idk, five, so scrapper is pretty desperate to find her

hideaway gets her name because glint has all these pet lizards that are actually pretty friendly to each other, but will absolutely chomp hideaway down given the chance, so she has to be quiet and sneaky to survive as she tries to find a way out back to scrapper.

the second drawing is just me messing around with a new brush, which i also used for the rain world stuff

the second image is a sketch page featuring inkwell and snag the vessels, quill the young stag beetle, rock the moth caterpillar, aurthias the centipede, and silverwyrm the wyrm-turned-bug, who has a pair of very long horns, a pair of smaller ones, scythes for claws, and a ridged tail with a centipede-like tail tip. there are sketches of inkwell simply standing, and pointing toward the viewer with the text, "pointing at you." one is of quill dropping down, looking alarmed, with inkwell on his back and rock just barely holding onto inkwell's cloak, squinting. there's a headshot sketch of aurthias, looking mildly concerned, with snag on top of his head. two sketches of silverwyrm show her standing, looking off to the side, wearing a sweater with patterns of leaves on it; another is a halfbody of her looking down happily at her sweater, a different one with a pumpkin on it. the last sketch is a halfbody of aurthias, holding up a blank sweater in his claws, saying, "i made you a sweater :)" the background is gray, and everybody is colored in a lighter shade. end id]

Thinking abt fucked up ocs. Heres a new one; the Cannibal. Shes got Mega Rabies and originally only had red-tipped ears and tail with a stripe down her back.

She also eats babies. Literally just chomps them. She got banished from her colony as a baby bc she kept attacking her littermates. she quite literally does not recognise other slugcats as being the same species as her which is why she eats babies. She would probably still do it if she could recognise them as her own species though.

(Theoretical) Flavour text is as follows;

Nicknamed 'The Cannibal' by Consequence, this stealthy slugcat stalks the old, dilapidated ruins of its home searching to satiate its neverending bloodlust.
